The Mount Pleasant business community is pleased to welcome PDI Plastics as the first resident in the new Mount Pleasant Business Park. PDI's ability to design and produce custom specific products makes them unique in the regional industrial mix.
After moving the company's San Antonio production to Mount Pleasant, PDI President Nigel Christopher, stated that the first order of business was to improve environmental controls. Unlike the company's old facilities, the new 10,000 square foot plant is fully enclosed to provide a clean industrial environment and triple insulated to control humidity. Both factor into product quality. The new plant's "green" features include LED lighting to reduce energy consumption and a rainwater collection system for landscape irrigation.
Christopher stated that PDI's future lies in further developing niche market designing, creating prototypes and implementing production of plastic components. PDI creates prototype molds used in trial production. After proving up its products, molds are cast to produce anything from component parts in the auto industry to retail displays. "One of our more unique products is a giant palm frond." Mr. Christopher said, "Customers in Florida and Hawaii use them atop cell phone towers so the towers blend into the local landscape."
